My RSN Certificate Goldwork has been assessed

The week before last I received the results of my RSN Certificate Goldwork project: I got 84%!!! I am really happy with this mark, especially since I completed this project as a summer intensive and I already knew I was going to lose marks for some bits (paint lines, corners). In this post, I will share…

RSN Summer Intensive Course in Goldwork

After having completed the Jacobean, Canvaswork and Silk Shading modules of the Royal School of Needlework Certificate Course I needed to complete the Goldwork module to complete the course. I chose to complete this module as a Summer Intensive as goldwork is quite delicate (especially the cutwork) and I didn’t want to have travel back…

My RSN Certificate Silk Shading has been assessed

Yesterday evening I received the results of my RSN Certificate Silk Shading project: I got 85%!!! I am really happy with this mark, especially since I have found this technique the most difficult so far. I am also really happy that I managed to get this mark without frogging and restitching a large number of…

RSN Certificate Silk Shading

In October 2018 I started the third module of the Royal School of Needlework Certificate course. After previously having completed the Jacobean Crewelwork and Canvaswork module, it was now time to try my hand at Silk Shading. It was really difficult to pick a suitable photograph of a flower. The RSN brief sets many do’s…

My RSN Certificate Canvaswork has been assessed

Last Thursday I received the results of the assessment of my Canvaswork which I had completed as part of the Royal School of Needlework Certificate course. I contrast to the Jacobean Crewelwork module, which I completed during term time, I completed this module during as a summer intensive course. I received 76 marks out of…

RSN Summer Intensive Certificate course in Canvaswork

It seems odd to write a single blog post about something so big as the Royal School of Needlework Summer Intensive certificate course in Canvaswork I have attended for the past two weeks. However, as it really was a single event I didn’t want to split my experiences into several shorter posts. I hope you…

Preparing for the RSN Certificate Summer Intensive course in Canvaswork

When I finished my Jacobean Crewelwork module in February, it felt like ages before the start of my next module but now it is only one week away! Even though it will be my 2nd module I am still quite scared about it all. Especially since I will be doing the Summer Intensive course, which…

My RSN Certificate Crewelwork has been assessed

Last Monday I received the results of the assessment of my Jacobean Crewelwork which I had complete as part of the Royal School of Needlework Certificate course. I received 101 marks out of 108, which is about 94%. Obviously, I was extremely happy with the results and it has given me a lot of confidence…

Drawing and Design for Embroidery Course

Last weekend I was back at the Royal School of Needlework. Not to continue with the next module of my certificate course but to attend a 3-day class on drawing and design for embroidery. This class was offered as one of the RSN-day classes but was specifically aimed at certificate & diploma students but anyone…

Finishing my RSN Certificate Crewelwork

As I mentioned in my previous post I was quite nervous about going back to the RSN as I completed most of my project at home and I didn’t really know whether the tutors would be happy with my progress. That is also why I booked my final three days spread out over the week…

This morning I visited the ‘150 years of the Royal School of Needlework: Crown to Catwalk exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum.
Some colourful inspiration for my next embroidery project…#observersbooks
Finished the crochet part of my new top. Have to block it first before sewing it together and knitting the hems with a nice stripy band. I am hoping it will be dry on Wednesday so I can take it with me when in travel to the UK as it will be a nice relaxing project to work on besides my detailed embroidery. #crochet
I really was in need of quicker project, which would show progress and also a lot of colour. When I saw this project by @lanagrossa I loved it and bought a kit from @knottenwol. It will be a summer top and I have already finished two-thirds of the back, started 4 days ago, and I have just been crocheting in the evenings in front of the tellie! It is my first time crocheting an item of clothing (I have primarily made scarves, bags, amigurumi and throws) am really hoping I can make it fit properly but there always should be a challenge, shouldn’t there? #crochet
🐌 🐌 🐌 but some more steps forward ahead of my next classes in two weeks time…#rsndiploma
A workshop of a very different kind today. I thought it would be nice to get my dad an experience for his birthday rather than an actual thing. From a few creative workshops I had picked he chose a woodturning workshop.
I got my new prescription glasses just before the weekend and it always takes me quite a while to adjust to them. My eyes felt so tired and were definitely not up for anything detailed or close-up (let alone both!).
Couldn’t resist ‘playing’ with my new cabinet. I found that it was really difficult to keep all of the thimbles equally spaced so they look all neat and tidy.
If you have been following my account for a while you know I have been looking for ages for a countertop display-cabinet. They always turned out too large to properly display the tiny thimbles and antique needlecraft tools in my collection. Until yesterday!
