Wren Etui

I spotted Jenny Adin Christie‘s wren for the first time when Catherine of Hillview Embroidery and I attended a workshop by Jenny at Au ver à Soie in Paris during their Nuit de la Broderie in February 2018. The odd thing was that at first I never realised that it was embroidered when I saw…

Year 1

Today is the 31st of December. Besides being the last day of 2017 it is also the last day of the first year of the Stitching Sheep and what a year it has been! I am so glad I have taken the plunge last year to launch the Stitching Sheep’s blog and social media accounts.…

‘My’ Secret Garden

It has been nearly a month since I have done the ‘Secret Garden’ day class at the Royal School of Needlework. The ‘Secret Garden’ is a design featuring ribbonwork and stumpwork embroidery techniques and has been designed and was taught by Helen Richman of The Bluebird Embroidery Company. The design actually features in her forthcoming…

Back at Hampton Court

The reason for starting the Stitching Sheep is because I love needlecraft and embroidery in particular and I wanted to share it with more people than just my immediate family and friends. The problem, however, with enjoying something so much, is that you want to keep doing it and as a result don’t give yourself…

Silk Ribbon Embroidery – a first attempt

I had seen pictures of ribbon-work before but they always looked rather old-fashioned, and not really my cup of tea. However, lately having seen the designs by the Royal School of Needlework and by Lorna Bateman, I started to change my mind. Their designs are much more contemporary and look a lot like something I…

This morning I visited the ‘150 years of the Royal School of Needlework: Crown to Catwalk exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum.
Some colourful inspiration for my next embroidery project…#observersbooks
Finished the crochet part of my new top. Have to block it first before sewing it together and knitting the hems with a nice stripy band. I am hoping it will be dry on Wednesday so I can take it with me when in travel to the UK as it will be a nice relaxing project to work on besides my detailed embroidery. #crochet
I really was in need of quicker project, which would show progress and also a lot of colour. When I saw this project by @lanagrossa I loved it and bought a kit from @knottenwol. It will be a summer top and I have already finished two-thirds of the back, started 4 days ago, and I have just been crocheting in the evenings in front of the tellie! It is my first time crocheting an item of clothing (I have primarily made scarves, bags, amigurumi and throws) am really hoping I can make it fit properly but there always should be a challenge, shouldn’t there? #crochet
🐌 🐌 🐌 but some more steps forward ahead of my next classes in two weeks time…#rsndiploma
A workshop of a very different kind today. I thought it would be nice to get my dad an experience for his birthday rather than an actual thing. From a few creative workshops I had picked he chose a woodturning workshop.
I got my new prescription glasses just before the weekend and it always takes me quite a while to adjust to them. My eyes felt so tired and were definitely not up for anything detailed or close-up (let alone both!).
Couldn’t resist ‘playing’ with my new cabinet. I found that it was really difficult to keep all of the thimbles equally spaced so they look all neat and tidy.
If you have been following my account for a while you know I have been looking for ages for a countertop display-cabinet. They always turned out too large to properly display the tiny thimbles and antique needlecraft tools in my collection. Until yesterday!
