Embroidery RSN Certificate Silk Shading6 July 2019

My RSN Certificate Silk Shading has been assessed

Yesterday evening I received the results of my RSN Certificate Silk Shading project: I got 85%!!! I am really happy with this mark, especially since I have found this technique the most difficult so far. I am also really happy that I managed to get this mark without frogging and restitching a large number of…

RSN Certificate Silk Shading

In October 2018 I started the third module of the Royal School of Needlework Certificate course. After previously having completed the Jacobean Crewelwork and Canvaswork module, it was now time to try my hand at Silk Shading. It was really difficult to pick a suitable photograph of a flower. The RSN brief sets many do’s…

Wren Etui

I spotted Jenny Adin Christie‘s wren for the first time when Catherine of Hillview Embroidery and I attended a workshop by Jenny at Au ver à Soie in Paris during their Nuit de la Broderie in February 2018. The odd thing was that at first I never realised that it was embroidered when I saw…

Year 1

Today is the 31st of December. Besides being the last day of 2017 it is also the last day of the first year of the Stitching Sheep and what a year it has been! I am so glad I have taken the plunge last year to launch the Stitching Sheep’s blog and social media accounts.…

Superb Fairy Wrens

Feeling rather brave but a bit mad at the same time having picked my next project. Since I have no WIPs lying around I could pick any of the kits in my stash. I am going to attempt a Trish Burr miniature needle painting design! I picked up this kit at Create in Stitch when…

Finishing my Silk Shading project

It has already been a month since I attended an Introductory Silk Shading day class at the Royal School of Needlework with tutor Helen Richman. With finishing my Hygge shawl and my gold work pheasant I have only just got back to finishing the day class project. Besides really liking the design – an English…

Silk Shading ‘English Rose’

Just arrived back from my day class at the Royal School of Needlework (RSN) at Hampton Court Palace and I have had a fabulous day. Last October I did a day class on Whitework with Lizzy Pye which I enjoyed so much I signed up for some more courses, the first of which was today.…

Week 2 of the @haakplein Nostalgia 2.0 CAL done! Love the new patterns we got to Crochet this week.
They made such fabulous sewing boxes in the seventies. Look at this bright orange version. For something made out of plastic it is still in an amazing condition. Really happy with my find. #vintagesewingbox
Finished my creative box! Well for now…I decided to just stop fiddling with it until my tutor sees it in class. I will never stop otherwise. Fortunately I have plenty of other WIPs to keep my hands busy.
2nd drawer is nearly done! Still need to attach the inner drawer to the outer one and attach the ribbon pull. Despite making it slightly smaller it is still as snug as the other drawer so I think it is mainly the fabric layers rubbing against each other which is causing it to not run very smoothly and that the size is actually right. I think I will keep the drawers as they are. I should be able to finish it this weekend. Next I will check the box over to make sure it is all as it should be before taking it in to class on the 11th of Feb and hopefully my tutors are happy with it too and I can hand it in! #rsndiploma
Compass, protractor and circle template at the ready this evening….Trying to come up with a good design for my next RSN diploma module which is advanced goldwork.
Managed to find some beautiful vintage items these past couple of weeks.
Finished part 1 of the Nostaliga 2.0 CAL by @haakplein! Still on track (sort of) as part 2 was published this morning.
Finished the first drawer for my creative box. I made it very luxurious with felt padding on the inside. It has a ribbon pull to be able to get it out.
First block of the CAL done! Really enjoying this project and how relaxing it is. 2 more blocks to go for this week’s installment. #nostalgiacal2023
