Embroidery RSN Certificate Silk Shading6 July 2019

My RSN Certificate Silk Shading has been assessed

Yesterday evening I received the results of my RSN Certificate Silk Shading project: I got 85%!!! I am really happy with this mark, especially since I have found this technique the most difficult so far. I am also really happy that I managed to get this mark without frogging and restitching a large number of…

RSN Certificate Silk Shading

In October 2018 I started the third module of the Royal School of Needlework Certificate course. After previously having completed the Jacobean Crewelwork and Canvaswork module, it was now time to try my hand at Silk Shading. It was really difficult to pick a suitable photograph of a flower. The RSN brief sets many do’s…

Wren Etui

I spotted Jenny Adin Christie‘s wren for the first time when Catherine of Hillview Embroidery and I attended a workshop by Jenny at Au ver à Soie in Paris during their Nuit de la Broderie in February 2018. The odd thing was that at first I never realised that it was embroidered when I saw…

Year 1

Today is the 31st of December. Besides being the last day of 2017 it is also the last day of the first year of the Stitching Sheep and what a year it has been! I am so glad I have taken the plunge last year to launch the Stitching Sheep’s blog and social media accounts.…

Superb Fairy Wrens

Feeling rather brave but a bit mad at the same time having picked my next project. Since I have no WIPs lying around I could pick any of the kits in my stash. I am going to attempt a Trish Burr miniature needle painting design! I picked up this kit at Create in Stitch when…

Finishing my Silk Shading project

It has already been a month since I attended an Introductory Silk Shading day class at the Royal School of Needlework with tutor Helen Richman. With finishing my Hygge shawl and my gold work pheasant I have only just got back to finishing the day class project. Besides really liking the design – an English…

Silk Shading ‘English Rose’

Just arrived back from my day class at the Royal School of Needlework (RSN) at Hampton Court Palace and I have had a fabulous day. Last October I did a day class on Whitework with Lizzy Pye which I enjoyed so much I signed up for some more courses, the first of which was today.…

Back home and I have another day off before going back to work tomorrow.
The final class of this week already. It has truly flown by.
I spend a lovely morning at Eltham Palace (@englishheritage) today.
Had a great day in class today. Just wanted to keep stitching when it was time to go home.
…and in other news…the box is back! So glad to be able to take my finished creative box home. It has been assessed but I have not received my mark yet so the scary wait is still continuing 🤞
Goldwork day today. Not much to show for it though as most of day was talking to tutors about the design and how to do certain elements. One of my tutors came up with a fabulous way to do the basketweave in the bottom triangle so I will try and start putting that in tomorrow. Fingers crossed I can make it work.
Those of you who follow my stories will have seen that this project actually came into class with me.
So happy with my purchase from Adam’s Antiques fairs this morning.
