My RSN Certificate Canvaswork has been assessed

Last Thursday I received the results of the assessment of my Canvaswork which I had completed as part of the Royal School of Needlework Certificate course. I contrast to the Jacobean Crewelwork module, which I completed during term time, I completed this module during as a summer intensive course. I received 76 marks out of…

RSN Summer Intensive Certificate course in Canvaswork

It seems odd to write a single blog post about something so big as the Royal School of Needlework Summer Intensive certificate course in Canvaswork I have attended for the past two weeks. However, as it really was a single event I didn’t want to split my experiences into several shorter posts. I hope you…

Preparing for the RSN Certificate Summer Intensive course in Canvaswork

When I finished my Jacobean Crewelwork module in February, it felt like ages before the start of my next module but now it is only one week away! Even though it will be my 2nd module I am still quite scared about it all. Especially since I will be doing the Summer Intensive course, which…

A new year!

Happy New Year everyone! Following on from yesterday’s post looking back at the highlights of the Stitching Sheep’s first year, I thought it would be fitting to celebrate it’s anniversary today and look ahead at the things 2018 will hopefully have in store for the Stitching Sheep. I have actually started writing this post enjoying…

A different kind of stitching

It has been an odd last few days. Everything has been about embroidery but without actually doing any embroidery at all. It has been more about sewing, organising and planning. As I have mentioned in previous blog posts I have decided to do the Royal School of Needlecraft certificate in technical hand embroidery course. I…

Having a go at Canvaswork

I had picked up this kit from the RSN Shop when I was at Hampton Court last month. I was mainly attracted to it because of the geometric design and the colour scheme which is based on a picture of the Wool Rack at the RSN. This picture is used by the RSN on a…

Another beautiful book about medieval embroidery. 😍 This time the exhibition catalogue of the L’Art en Broderie au Moyen Âge currently in the @museecluny in Paris (until January 20 2020). Unfortunately, I won’t be able to visit the exhibition in person but really happy I was able to get a copy of the exhibition catalogue!
Blackwork progress, slow but steady. The foliage in the foreground is progressing nicely. It is one of the easier sections to work on as it is nearly all the same tone. I will add in the few specs of the darker tone once the pattern is all in. It will be easier to see where the need to go. #rsndiploma
When @sewbyhandmtl recommends a book, you know it is going to be amazing and full of incredible detail. 😍 Love I was able to find a 2nd copy of this out of print exhibition catalogue on Medieval Embroidery from the Low Countries! Even more exciting is that the 2nd hand copy I found is in near mint condition.
An exciting delivery today from @fringesupplyco containing three different coloured canvas stash bags to match my fringe field bags, a set of wooden repair hooks, a sewing pattern and some canvas cleaner. I really love the style of their bags and I am 🤞 that Santa will bring me a cocoa town bag this year!
My @cohana_style tool tote is doubling as an advent calendar carrier this December as my @onceuponunefois ‘avent de la brodeuse’ has arrived! 😍 Can’t wait to start opening my presents. If you want to follow along do keep an eye out for my unboxing-stories from Sunday! #aventdelabrodeuse
So happy I was able to do some stitching on my RSN diploma blackwork this evening after work. It is usually quite difficult to find as much stitching time as I would like during my working week so I am always really happy when I do! Love when I got more of a particular pattern in that the design seems to come together and that I can see much better where I need to add more shading. #rsndiploma
Happy to be stitching on my RSN Diploma blackwork project today. Progress is slow but seeing the complete the design I am starting to be a bit happier with the tonal values, especially aftee having made the foliage a shade lighter. Hopefully I will be able to do some more stitching tomorrow! #rsndiploma
The second parcel today contained some more papercraft goodies, this time from @scrapdelight. Some distress inks by @tim_holtz, and @ranger_ink applicators and craftmat. I will have some fun at the weekend trying these, and my new stamps (see previous post) out! Apparently I can use the inks on fabric too so I can wait to see what that will look like. #sdhappymail
Two lovely stationery parcels arrived today. This parcel is from @meerleuks.nl and I got a couple of vintage-look stamps but have a look at my stories to see all of the gifts included in my parcel too 😍 and the box itself was a big hit too for 😻. #snailmail
